I'm doing this as part of SiteSprint II.
The process will be documented here and things will change daily over the next month, so come back often.
Over the next month, I'll mock up designs and site structure right on this site as well as work on the underlying code. I'll likely do executable wireframes, visuals and code development all in parallel. Nothing will be final until Dec 15th, so hold on for a wild ride :-)
I've had a personal site at jtauber.com since 1996. For the first ten years, it used entirely home-grown code, going through a number of generations culminating in my own Python web framework in 2003.
In 2006, I decided to move to using Django instead of my own framework. For the last three years, the site has been running a quick-and-dirty port of my earlier code to Django.
This site sprint is an opportunity for me to rewrite the code from scratch.
